BEFORE YOU PUBLISH
This document is a working draft prepared for Cathedral Classic. It is not legal advice. Fields shown in square brackets must be completed with the operator’s real legal name, address, and governing jurisdiction, and the whole document should be reviewed by an attorney before launch. Selling or sharing personal information triggers specific obligations under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other state privacy laws, and under the GDPR and UK GDPR if you accept visitors from Europe.
Terms of Use
Effective
1. Who we are
Cathedral Classic (“Cathedral Classic,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is an independent fan archive and community operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME], [ENTITY TYPE], at [MAILING ADDRESS]. You can reach us at press@cathedralclassic.com. By using this site you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy below. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
2. Independence and no affiliation
Cathedral Classic is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Brigham Young University, the University of Notre Dame, the Big 12 Conference, the NCAA, or their athletic departments, licensees, or broadcast partners. “Cathedral Classic” is our own fan brand and is not the official name of any scheduled game.
School names, team names, and player names appear in editorial text only, to identify and report on the matchup we document. All third-party trademarks, logos, and copyrighted material remain the property of their owners. Nothing on this site should be read as a claim of license, sponsorship, or affiliation.
3. Our trademarks
CATHEDRAL CLASSIC is a trademark of [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME]. The Cathedral Classic name, logo, emblem, wordmark, and taglines, including “2 faiths 1 Field & 1 answered prayer,” are our marks and may not be used without our prior written permission.
You may not use our marks, or any mark confusingly similar to them, in a business name, domain name, social account, product, advertisement, or promotion, and you may not use them in a way that suggests we sponsor, endorse, or are affiliated with you. Nominative reference in ordinary editorial or journalistic writing about Cathedral Classic is permitted. All other use requires a licence from us: write to press@cathedralclassic.com. We enforce these rights.
4. Our content and your license to use it
Original Cathedral Classic text, artwork, layouts, logos, and product designs are our intellectual property, protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read, link to, and share our pages for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, scrape in bulk, republish, resell, or use our original material to train a commercial model without our written permission. Historical facts, scores, and statistics are not owned by anyone, and you are free to use them; the way we have written, organized, and presented them is ours.
5. Third-party video and links
Game video is embedded or linked from the rights holder’s own platform. We do not host, mirror, re-encode, download, or strip watermarks from any video, and we claim no rights in it. Playback is governed by the host platform’s terms. External links are provided for reference; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
6. Accuracy of historical information
We research carefully and cite our sources, giving priority to official record books and athletic department statistics. Even so, archival records sometimes conflict and errors happen. The archive is provided for informational purposes and without warranty of accuracy or completeness. If you find a mistake, write to press@cathedralclassic.com and we will correct it.
7. Merchandise
All Cathedral Classic products carry original artwork and are not licensed by any university. No school logo, mascot, wordmark, uniform design, or protected slogan appears on any product. Prices, sizes, and availability are subject to change until an order is confirmed. Where a checkout is connected, the order confirmation and any accompanying shipping, return, and refund terms shown at checkout govern that purchase.
8. Promotions and giveaways
Any Cathedral Classic promotion is operated by us alone and is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by any university, the NCAA, or any platform. No promotion is open until official rules are published, and those rules will state the sponsor, entry window, eligibility, minimum age, prize description and value, entry method, winner selection and notification, and applicable jurisdictions. No purchase is ever necessary to enter and no payment is ever accepted for a chance to win. Joining an email list does not create an entry.
9. Fan tools and user submissions
Predictions, sign designs, votes, and similar selections are entertainment. Where they are stored in your own browser, they are not official polling, not sales data, and not published as site-wide statistics. If you send us content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it in connection with the site, and you confirm you have the right to send it. Do not submit anything unlawful, hateful, defamatory, or that attacks a religion or a person.
10. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to breach or probe the site’s security, interfere with its operation, scrape it at a rate that burdens it, misrepresent yourself as affiliated with us, or use the site for any unlawful purpose. We may restrict access for any of these reasons.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cathedral Classic and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed the greater of one hundred United States dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Cathedral Classic and its operators harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your use of the site or your breach of these terms.
13. Copyright complaints
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to press@cathedralclassic.com identifying the work, the material and its location, your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement that the notice is accurate, and your signature. We remove infringing material promptly on a valid notice.
14. Changes, governing law, and contact
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change and material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [GOVERNING STATE], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY, STATE].

Privacy Policy
Effective
THE SHORT VERSION
We collect information you give us and information collected automatically as you browse. We use Google and Meta advertising and analytics technology on this site, which means those companies receive data about your visit. We share personal information with third parties for advertising and analytics, and we may sell personal information as those terms are defined by state privacy laws. You can opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control below, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. Your email address and any optional preference when you join our list; your name, shipping and billing address, and order details if you buy merchandise; entry details if you enter a published promotion; and the contents of any message you send us.
Payment information. If a checkout is connected, card details are collected and processed by our payment processor, not by us. We receive only a confirmation and limited order data such as the last four digits of the card.
Information collected automatically. IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, operating system, screen size, referring URL, pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, time on page, scroll depth, and cookie and advertising identifiers.
Fan vote. When you vote in the fan poll we store the side you picked and a one-way hash of your IP address and browser user agent, so the same visitor cannot vote repeatedly. We do not store your raw IP address for this purpose and the hash cannot be reversed to identify you. The record expires after one year. Only the running totals are published, never anything about an individual voter.
Information stored on your device. Some fan-zone selections, such as your side and your saved favourites, are stored in your browser’s local storage. Those values stay on your device unless this policy says otherwise.
2. How we use information
- To operate the site, remember your preferences, and answer your messages.
- To send the newsletter and other updates you asked for, and to let you unsubscribe.
- To process, ship, and support merchandise orders.
- To administer a published promotion, verify eligibility, and notify a winner.
- To measure traffic and understand which content and products perform.
- To advertise Cathedral Classic, including targeted, retargeted, and lookalike advertising on Google and Meta platforms.
- To share and, where applicable, sell or licence data to advertising, analytics, and data partners as described in section 4.
- To protect the site, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law.
3. Legal bases, for visitors in Europe and the United Kingdom
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies and for marketing email; on contract performance for orders and promotions; and on legitimate interests for site security and basic operation. You may withdraw consent at any time. We do not intend to sell the personal data of visitors in these regions, and where consent for advertising cookies is refused, no advertising data is shared.
4. Sharing, selling, and disclosure
We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipient:
Sale and sharing of personal information. California and several other state privacy laws define “sale” broadly, to include disclosing personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration, and define “sharing” to include disclosure for cross-context behavioural advertising. Under those definitions, Cathedral Classic sells and shares personal information. In the preceding twelve months we have shared, and may sell, the following categories: identifiers such as cookie and advertising IDs, IP address, and email address; commercial information such as products viewed and purchased; and internet activity such as browsing and interaction data. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen.
We do not sell or share sensitive personal information, we do not sell precise geolocation, and we never sell the contents of your messages to us.
5. Cookies and tracking, including Google and Meta
We use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technology. Strictly necessary items keep the site working. Analytics and advertising items are optional and are only set where you have consented or where consent is not legally required.
Google and Meta act as independent controllers or as our partners for some of this processing, and they use the data for their own purposes under their own policies. You can also limit tracking through your browser’s cookie settings, your device advertising settings, and the industry tools at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling, to limit the use of sensitive information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom also have the right to data portability, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority.
To make a request, email press@cathedralclassic.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We respond within forty-five days and may extend once where the law allows. We will verify your identity before acting, and an authorised agent may act for you with written permission.
To unsubscribe from email, use the link at the bottom of any message or write to us.
7. Retention, security, and transfers
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law: newsletter data until you unsubscribe and for a short suppression period afterwards, order records for the period tax and accounting rules require, promotion records as the official rules state, and analytics data for the retention window configured with the provider. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We are based in the United States and your information will be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate transfer safeguards where required.
8. Children
This site is not directed to children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced on the site. Please check back before assuming nothing has moved.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Use this control to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising on this site. Your choice is recorded in this browser, so set it again on other browsers and devices. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically.
{{ optMsg }}
Opting out does not remove advertising, it stops us sharing or selling your information for targeted advertising. You may still see untargeted ads. To exercise access, correction, or deletion rights, email press@cathedralclassic.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
